Someone passed at work today
in passing
I mean
he leapt or fell
from this teetering life
punching his regrets onto the pavement
with one last red exclamation point
We proud polyester lemmings
shuffled past him
urgently pushing one another
shaking our heads
hurrying into the diving platform building
tsk, tsk
"such a shame"
(we all agreed, of course)
swiping our bar coded badges
drinking our coffee in perfectly portioned packets
and riding our little metal boxes
to the top of the building
