Death
by:
Al-Mu'tamid ibn Abbad
(1040-1095)
translated by Dulcie L. Smith
My share of life is finished; I am laid
On my death-bed.
Did he not die, our father Adam, also,
And Muhammad?
Dead are the princes and the potentates
And none shall wake them.
Tell them that triumph at my death, that Death
Shall overtake them.
